Craft Storage Carts on Wheels: Drawers, Brakes and Price per Drawer

Of three listed carts, a 10-drawer metal-frame cart on Walmart costs the least per drawer at $4.40 (October 2026 prices), against $6.00 for Costway's 15-drawer cart. Costway's listing names lockable wheels and the cheaper cart's listing does not, so check before you buy.

Across eight priced carts on Walmart, Wayfair and Amazon, one drawer costs from $3.50 to $12.75. The top figure is about 3.6 times the bottom one. If you sort crayons, stickers and paper by kind, price per drawer shows what each sorted spot in a craft storage cart on wheels costs.

Hello Hobby’s 10-Drawer Cart Costs the Least per Drawer: $3.50

Divide a listing’s price by its drawer count and you get the price of one separate drawer. That’s the number to compare when each supply gets its own drawer.

Each figure is the price the listing showed in October 2026, and it can change. A “from” price is the lowest price the listing showed. For the Amazon cart, the table uses the new price; a used one was listed at $42.99. Ratings are out of 5 stars.

Cart (where listed) Drawers Price (Oct 2026) Price per drawer Listing notes
Hello Hobby 10-drawer cart (Walmart) 10 $34.97 $3.50 No locks named; 4.6 stars, 844 reviews
Costway 15-drawer cart, Macaron (Walmart) 15 From $62.99 $4.20 No locks named; 4.2 stars, 841 reviews
10-drawer metal-frame cart (Walmart) 10 From $43.99 $4.40 No locks named; 5 stars, 1 review
Costway 12-drawer cart (Walmart) 12 From $56.99 $4.75 Lockable wheels; 4.1 stars, 141 reviews
Canddidliike 15-drawer cart (Walmart) 15 $72.76 $4.85 No locks named; 5 stars, 1 review
Costway 15-drawer cart, chrome-plated frame (Walmart) 15 From $89.99 $6.00 Lockable universal wheels; 2 stars, 2 reviews
KINGRACK 12-drawer cart, wooden top (Wayfair) 12 $102.88 $8.57 Two lockable brakes; 4.6 stars, 76 ratings
4-drawer cart, wooden top (Amazon) 4 $50.99 new $12.75 Used offer at $42.99; free delivery

Price per drawer is the price divided by the drawer count: $34.97 / 10 = $3.50 for the Hello Hobby cart and $50.99 / 4 = $12.75 for the Amazon cart.

The $89.99 Costway cart has five more drawers than the $43.99 10-drawer cart. Those five cost $89.99 - $43.99 = $46.00, which is $9.20 per extra drawer.

Walmart’s page lists more carts, and you can divide any of them the same way.

Verdict: Buy the Hello Hobby 10-Drawer Cart, or Costway’s 12-Drawer for Locks

Verdict: The Hello Hobby 10-drawer rolling craft cart on Walmart suits a parent who sorts supplies by kind and wants the most separate drawers for the money.

Its flaw, and the fix: Its Walmart listing names no wheel locks. If the cart has to hold still, buy the Costway 12-drawer cart with lockable wheels instead: from $56.99, or $4.75 a drawer, with 4.1 stars from 141 reviews.

Strengths: It has the lowest price per drawer in the table, $3.50, and 4.6 out of 5 stars from 844 Walmart reviews. The $43.99 metal-frame 10-drawer cart costs 90 cents more per drawer and shows only 1 review.

Who should skip it: If you want a flat work surface on top, buy the KINGRACK 12-drawer cart with a wooden top on Wayfair: $102.88, or $8.57 a drawer, with two lockable brakes. It has 8 more drawers than the 4-drawer Amazon wooden-top cart, at a lower price per drawer. If you’d rather split small supplies into many slots, the LC Crafts 40-pocket cart below fits, but Amazon lists it as currently unavailable.

Nine Listings Name Locks or Brakes; the Three Cheapest per Drawer Don’t

If the cart will double as a work surface, look for locks or brakes in the listing text. Nine listings on these pages name them. Walmart’s listings for the three cheapest carts per drawer in the table (Hello Hobby, the Costway Macaron and the $43.99 10-drawer cart) name neither.

  • Walmart: Costway’s $89.99 15-drawer cart lists lockable universal wheels, and its 12-drawer cart lists lockable wheels. A 3-tier cart lists 2 lockable wheels, and a Spaco wooden cart lists lockable casters. Universal wheels are casters that swivel in any direction.
  • Wayfair: KINGRACK’s 14-drawer cart promises “360° swivel wheels with brakes”. Its 12-drawer wooden-top cart lists two lockable brakes that “keep it securely in place when used as a stable workstation.” The X-cosrack cart has four swivel wheels, two of them lockable.
  • Amazon: The LC Crafts cart lists “a dependable locking system,” and on the TC-HOMENY cabinet “you can lock the wheels.”

A listing that says how many brakes it has tells you more than one that only says “with brakes.”

Drawers, Pockets or a Cabinet: Choose by What You Store

  • Drawer carts keep supplies sorted and out of sight. Wayfair lists a 12-drawer rolling utility cart with a wooden top in 5 colors as a Way Day Deal, which is Wayfair’s sale label. At $102.88, that’s $102.88 / 12 = $8.57 a drawer.
  • Pocket carts swap a few drawers for many small slots. The LC Crafts 40-pocket rolling cart is sold for kids. It shows 4.7 out of 5 stars from 133 ratings, but Amazon lists it as currently unavailable.
  • Cabinet carts can be built around a single tool. The TC-HOMENY cart is sold as a vinyl roll holder and cutting machine storage cabinet, not as a kids’ supply organizer.

Load the Cart by Supply Type, Whatever Your Child’s Age

Sort first, then fill. The price-per-drawer math above assumes one kind of supply per drawer.

  1. List every type of supply you own, then compare that list with the drawer count.
  2. Give everyday supplies such as crayons, paper and stickers the drawers you open most.
  3. Give project materials their own drawer, such as craft sticks and glue for the popsicle stick witch hat craft.
  4. Label each drawer front with a word or a picture.
  5. Leave one drawer empty for unfinished work.

If it goes wrong: when a drawer sticks, take half of what’s in it and move it to a second drawer.

Before You Buy: Check Stock, Frame and Where the Cart Will Roll

  1. Stock. The LC Crafts cart is listed as currently unavailable. Check stock on any listing before you plan around it.
  2. Frame. The $43.99 10-drawer Walmart cart lists a metal frame, and the $89.99 Costway cart’s frame is chrome-plated metal. For any other cart, find the frame material in its listing.
  3. Route. Walk the path from where the cart will be stored to the work table. Note any doorways and rugs on the way. Measure each doorway against the cart’s listed size. The LC Crafts cart is 32 inches wide, the TC-HOMENY cart lists 32 by 16 inches, and the X-cosrack cart 16.54 by 11.4 inches.
  4. Outdoors. The Inspired Workshop’s DIY cart builder wheels the cart outside “when I am cutting something smelly.” If you plan to do the same, check the ground outside your door too.

FAQ

Do Rolling Craft Carts Come With Wheel Locks?

Nine listings on these pages name locks or brakes. In the table, the cheapest cart that names locks is the Costway 12-drawer at $56.99, which is $22.02 more than the Hello Hobby for 2 more drawers. If a title names no locks, search its product page for “lock” or “brake.”

Can I Build a Rolling Craft Cart Instead?

Yes, but expect to pay more than for any cart in the table. The builder at The Inspired Workshop puts the total cost at “a little over $230,” with cabinet-grade plywood on the outside. That’s more than twice the $102.88 KINGRACK cart. The builder sized it to hold a laser engraver on top and says you can make it smaller.

Drawers or Pockets: Which Suits Kids’ Supplies?

Drawers suit supplies sorted by kind and kept out of sight. Pockets suit lots of small items, one slot each. A pocket and a drawer don’t hold the same amount, so price per pocket doesn’t compare directly with this page’s price per drawer. Compare pocket carts with other pocket carts.
